Leaving the safe harbors of our lives may be dangerous—but it is also deeply inspiring. It has always held the potential for insight and creativity.
Departing from the harbors of the mainland and setting course for the Aegean Sea has, throughout history, often been an act of freedom, of heroism, and at times, of refuge. Following an inner calling—driven by a desire for openness, for encountering the winds, and for finding a place to settle—we arrived, after years of searching, on a beautiful, rugged, and profoundly serene island of the Aegean: Andros.
For those who call this island home, it has always offered the essential elements of life in their purest form: the cliffs, the water, the wind, the wild nature, and the warmth of the sun.
Now, here, we have found a stone—like the centerpiece of a Zen garden—in the form of an old ruin. We caressed it, as the winds do; we washed it, as the water does; we gazed upon it, as the sun does. In the heart of this micro-universe, we began, in the summer of 2024, a circle of friends, artists, writers, and free spirits.
And so, the international, multidisciplinary festival of KappArt was born.
We grow and create with the sense that art, too, needs all the essential elements of the universe—plus the love and commitment that only humans can so beautifully give.
