Adam Goodwin

COMPOSER, DOUBLE BASSIST & MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST

Based in Berlin, Germany, Adam Goodwin is active as an interpreter of contemporary and classical music as well as organizing his own creative projects throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas.

He performs regularly with groups including Ensemble United Berlin, Zafraan Ensemble, Ensemble KNM and Ensemble New Babylon, and has toured extensively as a soloist. As a composer, he has written pieces for the Chargan Persian Quartet, BulCanto Choir, Havoc Quartet, and various solo artists.

Goodwin is also active within many other genres, including rock, metal, experimental pop, and various forms of traditional music from the Eastern Mediterranean. He has also delved deeply into Bulgarian folk as well as religious music and its Byzantine roots, collaborating regularly as a composer and arranger with the Bulgarian Voices Berlin and BulCanto choirs.

Goodwin is extremely interested in the intersections of sound, spirituality and ritual, and has spent many years both researching and creating music with the intention of inducing altered states of perception. From 2023-24, he led bi-monthly "sonic meditation sessions" at the Bodhicharya Buddhist Temple in Berlin.

His work frequently explores elements of physicality and mental state during performance, as well as addressing socio-political and environmental issues.
