GUITARIST & COMPOSER

Areti Koltsida is a guitarist and composer based in Athens. Her music focuses on contemporary instrumental composition, drawing inspiration from the traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean. With studies in classical guitar and musicology, and a path that has intersected with various musical idioms — from Western art music to improvisation through rock and jazz, as well as an exploration of the modal music systems of the Eastern Mediterranean — she has gradually shaped a personal style, where composition serves as a meeting point of diverse sonic worlds.

Her compositions are characterized by structure and clarity, while remaining open to live expression and transformation. At the core lies the need for a personal form of storytelling, where composition functions as a place of convergence for different aural realms.

In 2023, she released her debut album "Between Seas" with the band Between Seas Trio, a work that captures the aesthetic and style of "contemporary music of the Eastern Mediterranean." Alongside composing and performing live, she also teaches classical guitar.
