Konstantinos Kakogiannis, born in Athens, is a director and screenwriter based in Berlin. He studied Physical Education at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Film Direction at the Stavrakos Film School in Athens. After gaining extensive experience in television and advertising in Athens (MAD TV, Extra Channel, Mega Channel, Olympic Games broadcasts), he moved to Berlin in 2005, where he became a member of the video collective Ak-Kraak, Co founder of Atopia Collective and curator of “Alternating Events.” His second independent feature film Pencil Knife Baton (2019) was selected by over 30 international festivals and received 18 awards, including Best Film, Director, and Screenplay. His work spans cinema (Maxilari, Pencil Knife Baton), television (ERT’s The Great Tomorrow, Discovering the World), theater (More, Kissen, HELL/DAY 2,3,4 series, Baby tooth), and dance (Pacemaker), showcasing a distinct artistic voice that blends experimental narrative with social and emotional depth.

ATOPIA COLLECTIVE is a mainly cinematic team based in Berlin, Athens and with fellow co-players in every corner of the planet. The movie Pencil Knife Baton is a resulted from the encounter of 100 Don Quixotes who invested in her and trusted each other. A movie that talks about co-existence and solidarity not only narratively, but procedurally too. An independent cinematic production that managed, without the support of any institutional entity or funding, to be selected in 30 festivals all over the world and receive 17 awards, amongst them for: best movie, directing, screenplay, photography, editing, costume design et al. Our intention is to make jazz compositions with the potentiality of multiple interpretation. With humor as the universal positive denominator, we strive for art to convert thought into energy and action.
